The name Tabitha is derived from the Aramaic language, and it was widely used in the early Christian communities. However, in Islamic culture, the name Tabitha is not as commonly used as it once was. Instead, the Islamic world knows Tabitha as Tabit (anse Tabit), which translates to "elephant." This name stems from a story in the Prophetic traditions, in which Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) met an Ethiopian Islamic man named Tabit, who was an elephant trainer. The Prophet admired Tabit's faith and piety and named a famous well in Madina after him. So while the name Tabitha has a Christian origin, it holds cultural significance in Islamic history through the association with Tabit, the elephant trainer.
