Shufaiqah

A symbol of hope and guidance in the darkest of times

The name "Shufaiqah" has Arabic origins and can be derived from the verse in the holy Quran where Allah (God) says, "And the stars for crying out (in truth): and there is complete safety and security for you this night in this Mosque." (10:88). This verse is referencing the safety and peace one finds in the company of fellow believers during the early hours of the night from pre-dawn (Fajr pray) to early morning (Sahar), and the shining stars above are an analogy of the righteous and virtuous individuals in the community, who like stars, shine brightly amidst the darkness of ignorance and evil. So "Shufaiqah" can be seen as a name given to someone who embodies this quality of shining brightly and being a beacon of light, guidance, and safety in the community.
