The name Omamah holds significant cultural importance in Islamic history due to its association with the renowned affective companion of Prophet Muhammad, Bilal ibn Rabah. Bilal was an enslaved Ethiopian, who later became the first muezzin ( caller for prayer). Omamah was one of Bilal’s three freed slaves and his child. Omamah was protected and raised by Bilal with great care and love. Bilal, being the personification of perseverance, courage, loyalty, and faith, instilled these virtues in his dear Omamah, who came to be recognized as an important early Sahabi (companion) of the Prophet Muhammad.
