The term "Mushriqi" held a significant place in pre-Islamic Arabian culture, during which people worshiped various deities and the sun was considered a supreme deity. This term became synonymous with polytheism, idolatry, and paganism that was rejected by the Islamic faith. As the Islamic civilization expanded, the term was used by the Muslim majority to distinguish themselves from the non-Muslim polytheistic peoples of Arabia, Persia, and other regions.
