Medina, also known as Al-Madīna al-Munawwarah (The Radiant City) in Arabic, is a city in the Hejaz region of western Saudi Arabia. It is historically significant as the second hometown of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the birthplace of Islam as a political entity. After immigrating from Mecca, the prophet and his followers, known as the Muhajirun, founded the first Islamic state in this city. Medina’s importance continued to grow as it became the center of Islamic administration, scholarship, and jurisprudence. It remains a major cultural and historical site, featuring numerous mosques, museums, and educational institutions that showcase Islamic heritage and draw millions of pilgrims every year.
