The name "Mahisha" is believed to have originated in Arabic cultures, specifically in reference to the lunar goddess, Manat or Wadd al-Rasat, who was revered in pre-Islamic Arab society. She was considered the "Goddess of the Moon" and was worshipped for protection, fertility, and sustenance. The worship of such goddesses was thus an important part of pre-Islamic Arabian culture. However, with the advent of Islam, this practice was discouraged, and the emphasis shifted towards the One God, Allah.
