Jonah

Symbolizes the saving grace of Allah, who can save us from the depths of our sins and miseries.

The name Jonah in the Islamic context is most often associated with the Prophet Yunus (which is the Arabic name for Jonah) from the Quran and the Old Testament. Despite his name meaning "comforted", this Prophet is most famously known for being cast into the sea and swallowed by a whale or a large fish for three days and nights. This incident and the Prophet'sEventually, the Prophet Yunus was thrown into the sea as a punishment for shirk (associating other gods with Allah) and for neglecting Prophet Yunus' mission to invite people to belief in Allah. However, after being in the belly of the whale for three days, Yunus repented and was released, ultimately returning to the city of Nineveh to deliver the message of Allah and to seek forgiveness for his previous transgressions.
