In ancient Iranian mythology, Homadokht, also known as Anahita, was a major goddess revered for her role as the goddess of water, fertility, abundance, and prosperity. Her cult spread from northwestern Iran into central Asia, Anatolia, Syria, and Egypt. In Persian art and literature, she is often depicted wearing a diadem, seated on a throne, holding a cornucopia and year, or accompanied by a snake or lotus.
