The name "Al-Aqsa" refers to the third holiest site in Islam, the Al-Aqsa Mosque located in Jerusalem, Palestine. This mosque holds immense cultural significance not just for Muslims worldwide, but also for Jews and Christians due to its historical, religious, and political associations. The Dome of the Rock, another iconic Islamic shrine situated within the same compound, houses the rock from which Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) ascended to heaven during his Night Journey (Isra and Miraj).
